Frequently asked questions.
Type of game?
Oily Beard is a medieval city builder war game that is played through a web browser on either a mobile device or PC.
Will every player account be assigned a single town?
Every player begins with a single town that has limited resources and no buildings, including a ruined cathedral. Players may build additional towns and strengthen them over time.
Players may choose to be a Blacksmith or a Serjeant: Blacksmiths are able to produce weapons, horses, and other resources, while Serjeants are able to produce troops such as archers, pikemen, and seige engines.
The game lasts for approximately 3 months, at which point the server is reset. Some Life Code fragments, which are important for victory, are rare and only appear at certain times, making conquest and destruction appealing.
We would like to make it clear that the 20 skins we are introducing will be purely cosmetic in nature.
The game's premium model has been eliminated, and now players can upgrade buildings instantaneously using core resources like food, wood, and stone. However, the original batch system remains unchanged, where each batch of troops takes a fixed amount of time to produce. Instant upgrades of buildings will only increase the batch quantity as the building level increases. There is no option to produce batches instantly with cash payments, so players will need to plan and manage their resources carefully.
It is not possible to purchase resources or items with real money in Oily Beard. The market is a safe place for players to trade resources and items with one another.
The virtual currency used in the game, known as Mongrel Points, can be carried over to future rounds if you don't exhaust it before the reset. Additionally, all skins are permanent, which allows you to customize each town map tile according to your preference, and you can keep them forever.
Blacksmiths can build a barracks and receive donated troops to command, while Serjeants can loot and pillage, destroy, capture, and return with weapons and other resources.
There is no unit cap in Oily Beard. Troop numbers are only limited by the capacity of the player's barracks.
There is no card system in the game. Battles take place in real time and players have the freedom to change their deployment as they see fit.
If a town is destroyed, it is not restored. The player must start from scratch to rebuild it.
There is no grace period of immunity after a town is destroyed. Players may be attacked again at any time.
Oily Beard has live text chat for global, friends, and brotherhood communication. There is also an in-game forum for each Brotherhood to discuss strategy, request aid, and make plans. The marketplace is a safe place for players to trade resources and items with one another. Hiring mercenaries is not allowed in the game, as it goes against the principles upheld by King Arthur.
By rebuilding the cathedral and finding the Life Code fragments, your brotherhood will receive various buffs, such as increased wood production and stronger walls. When all 15 words of the Life Code are discovered, the bishop can forge the code and win the game.
King Arthur is a man of refinement, while Oily Beard is a ruffian, a scoundrel and a vagabond who steals the kings mutton. There is a reward for information leading to Oily Beard's arrest - This is the official statement, but Oilybeard has been know to visit villages ravaged by war to care for the injured. People say that when Oilybeard prays, mountains move.
